7 Bible Verses about Forgiveness
We have all been hurt by others and sometimes, forgiveness is the last thing we are able to do. Forgiving others does not come easily but with God’s help, you will be able to learn how to forgive those who have hurt you.
As Christians, we all understand forgiveness and the power it has – I was forgiven by Christ for all of my past sins when He shed His blood on the cross at Calvary and you were also forgiven. Because we are forgiven, we must learn how to forgive others…constantly.
The following 7 Bible Verses about forgiving others can help us embrace our own personal forgiveness journey. I was hurt by my husband for many years and I became very angry, bitter and resentful; God took me on an Emotional Healing Journey and at the forefront of that journey was: FORGIVENESS.
After many years of abuse, with God’s help, I learned how to forgive my husband and show him God’s Grace in a powerful way. You can read all about the power of forgiveness in Our Miracle – A Story of Forgiveness, Grace andHealing.

3. Ephesians 4:31-32
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
4. Mark 11:25
“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’ “
6. Matthew 6:9-13
“This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ “
7. Luke 17:3-4
“So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
I know how hard it is to forgive someone and how hard it is to let go of the pain and trauma but I am here to tell you that it is possible. You can forgive that person that hurt you and you can be released from the burden of unforgiveness, bitterness and resentment.
