Forgiveness can be so hard to do but once we look at the Scriptures it can become a lot easier. With the help of the Holy Spirit, Prayer and support we can find freedom in forgiving others.
The Bible tells us why we should forgive and how we can do it.
“He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
“Then He adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.”
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

I know from my own journey of forgiveness how much freedom is in it. You can find freedom in forgiving others today! It releases an abundance of negative emotions and you are able to feel healthier emotionally and mentally.
Sometimes we think that if we forgive others it means they are getting off scott-free and by us harbouring feelings of unforgiveness, bitterness and resentment we are punishing them – giving them what they deserve. But if we think about ourselves and all the mistakes we have made, we can feel empathy for others – even for those who have hurt us.
God doesn’t give us what we deserve for our sins – death – instead He sent His son Jesus to die for our sins and gave us the ultimate gift of eternal life with Him. This is why we need to embrace forgiveness. We need to remember that we are all human and we all make mistakes; forgiving others does not take away the pain we have felt but it does allow us to heal from our pain and hurt.
